Shandon Fowler is the founder of Four8 Insights, a benefits technology and communication consultancy based in Charleston, South Carolina. He’s been named to Employee Benefit Adviser’s list of “30 Benefits Thought Leaders to Know” as well as that publication’s 2015 list of “30 Benefits Pros to Follow on Twitter.” His articles have appeared in The Hill, RealClearHealth, Employee Benefit Adviser, Employer Benefit News, HR Dive and BenefitsPro, and he has been quoted on healthcare reform and benefits in The New York Times and CNBC.com.
Prior to starting Four8 Insights, Shandon was Senior Director of Product Strategy and Employer Portfolio at Benefitfocus, a leading provider of cloud-based benefits software solutions. He played a key role in the strategic formulation, development and deployment of the company’s enterprise benefits management platform solutions, which reach millions of consumers and thousands of benefits administrators. Benefitfocus’ development and launch of a broad spectrum of benefits technology solutions, including the award-winning Benefitfocus Marketplace and Benefitfocus Mobile App, gave Fowler a unique, consumer-driven perspective on the rapidly evolving benefits landscape.
Fowler started his tenure at Benefitfocus launching icyou, a user-generated health video website that was named both a Webby Awards Honoree and an eHealthcare Strategies Gold Medalist. He has also garnered team and individual recognition from Communication Arts and The Effie Awards for Brand Identity for the Tribeca Film Festival, as well as Society of Professional Journalists prizes for editorial and feature writing.
Prior to Benefitfocus, Fowler worked on Social Media Strategy at AOL and was one of the original employees of the Tribeca Film Festival. He’s also the author of the Amazon #1 Best Seller The Groom’s Instruction Manual.
